Hit by an Uber that ran a red light in Rosebank. Logged the claim through the app on a Wednesday morning, assessor at the panel beater Thursday lunchtime, courtesy car arranged same day. Vitality Drive cash-back has averaged R420 a month — pays for half my fuel.
Our combined Discovery cover came in R310 higher than OUTsurance, but once I added Vitality Active Rewards (Woolies, Pick n Pay, fuel) we're net ahead by about R600 a month. Only complaint: the app pushes you to engage constantly.
Underwriting was fully digital — no medicals for my R3m cover at age 34. PayBack benefit is a real thing; I got R8 200 back at the end of year three for hitting Diamond Vitality.
Loved the cover for the first two years but my renewal went up 14% without a claim. Took two calls to negotiate it down to 6%. Cover quality is great, retention pricing isn't.
