Trust & Transparency
Methodology & editorial policy
How CompareInsurance.co.za rates South African insurers, where our data comes from, and how we earn revenue without compromising editorial independence.
How we rate insurers
Our 5-star rating blends four signals: claims turnaround (sourced from FSCA reports and verified customer submissions), Hellopeter and Google review averages, breadth of product range, and pricing competitiveness measured via shadow quotes across 12 driver profiles. Ratings refresh quarterly.
How our comparison engine works
We collect public premium data and live quote samples from each insurer's API where available, and from periodic shadow-quote audits otherwise. We never alter ranking based on commission paid — ranking is purely signal-driven.
How we make money
When a user requests a quote through our funnel and an insurer issues a policy, we receive a per-lead or per-policy referral fee. This commercial relationship does not influence editorial rankings or guide content. We disclose commercial partnerships at the point of every comparison.
Editorial independence
All guides and provider reviews are written by our editorial team and reviewed by an independent insurance specialist before publication. No insurer has approval rights over our content.
POPIA & data protection
We are POPIA-compliant. Personal information shared with us is only used to obtain quotes from selected insurers. We do not sell data and you can request deletion of your information at any time via privacy@compareinsurance.co.za.
Corrections policy
If you spot an error in pricing, product details or provider data, email editorial@compareinsurance.co.za. Material corrections are issued within 48 hours and noted with a dated update at the top of the affected page.
