Our privacy promise
South African insurance comparison has a spam reputation. We're building the opposite: a calm, respectful place to compare cover where your data is handled like it matters — because it does.
Your data goes only to insurers you approve
When you complete a quote request, we only send your details to the insurers you choose. No silent broadcasts to lead-buying networks.
We do not sell or rent your contact details
Your phone number, email and ID are not commodities. We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties — full stop.
POPIA-compliant by design
We follow the Protection of Personal Information Act. You have the right to access, correct, delete and withdraw consent for your information at any time via privacy@compareinsurance.co.za.
Calculators run in your browser
Our insurance calculators never send what you type to our servers. They calculate locally on your device — nothing is transmitted until you explicitly request a quote.
What we collect
When you request a quote we collect the information insurers need to provide one: name, contact, ID number (for FICA/FAIS verification), vehicle or family details and answers to underwriting questions. We collect anonymised usage analytics to improve the site. We don't fingerprint visitors or track you across other websites.
How long we keep it
Quote-request data is retained for 24 months in line with FAIS record-keeping obligations, then permanently deleted. You can request earlier deletion by emailing privacy@compareinsurance.co.za — we'll action it within 14 days unless we're legally required to keep specific records longer.
Your rights under POPIA
- Access — request a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to fix anything inaccurate.
- Deletion — withdraw consent and request removal.
- Object — opt out of any communications, immediately and permanently.
- Complain — escalate to the Information Regulator if we don't respond.
